Rainbow Food & Fun

Rainbow Food and Fun seeks to fulfil part of the ‘animals, including humans’ section of the current National Curriculum for Science; with a different presentation for each school year from Years 1 to 4. The presentations for preschool and reception encompass the Early Years Foundation Stage.

Rainbow Food and Fun is a fun and educational presentation for children aged 3 to 9 years of age.  Using a variety of hands-on experiences and age-appropriate tools, puppets and songs the children will learn about the importance of eating a rainbow of vegetables and fruit each day, a balanced diet, drinking water and exercising.

I have established Rainbow Food and Fun to encourage children to eat: –

  • a red vegetable or fruit each day

  • an orange vegetable or fruit each day

  • a yellow vegetable or fruit each day

  • a green vegetable or fruit each day

  • a white vegetable or fruit each day and

  • a purple vegetable or fruit each day

In other words a rainbow of vegetables and fruits each day.  Alongside this, a varied and balanced diet; which provides protein, complex carbohydrates and essential fats, plus water and exercise, will benefit each child’s growth and development.

Eat a Rainbow

The reason for eating a rainbow of vegetables and fruits each day is that by eating a variety of colours each day you obtain the maximum amount of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants; additionally, each colour has different health benefits.

Red and White are good for the Heart

Orange and Yellow are good for Vitality

Green is good for Bones and Teeth

Purple is good for Memory

Eating a variety of different coloured vegetables and fruits every day is great for the whole family/community as this helps to protect against some cancers, heart disease, stroke and brittle bones.

Rainbow Food and Fun is currently available within Gloucestershire, North Wiltshire, North Oxfordshire, South Warwickshire and South East Worcestershire.

For schools outside these areas, please ask.
